Kaushik's 'Tere Sang' [ With You] is about teen pregnancy

This one could be straight from the newspaper headlines. In February this year, a 13-year-old girl got pregnant in Italy but she was asked to abort her baby by the courts. The girl refused.

The sensational headline bringing into global focus the whole question of teen pregnancy is now the theme of Satish Kaushik's ready-to-release 'Tere Sang'.
In 'Tere Sang', the 17-year-old hero, played by Ruslaan Mumtaaz, gets his 15-year-old girlfriend (Sheena Shahabadi) pregnant. The girl refuses to abort the baby.
'In 'Tere Sang' we've gone into teen pregnancy. Nowadays pre-marital sex doesn't depend on the age of consent. We can't sweep promiscuity among young teenagers under the carpet. It'll only aggravate the problem,' Kaushik told IANS.
Was it difficult to shoot lovemaking scenes with actors so young?
Kaushik smiled in embarrassment and said: 'Fortunately, my main lead weren't really 17 and 15. And really, today's kids don't need to grow up before knowing about the birds and the bees.'
Ruslaan, who debuted with the teen film 'Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar' (MP3), says he didn't face problems with the scenes.
'I realise it's a very sensitive subject. But about time we came out with it. Fortunately, I'm far older than the character I play, so I understood the situation maturely,' said Ruslaan.
'If my girlfriend got pregnant at 15, I'd definitely want her to abort the baby. But if she decides to keep the baby, I'd support her. I'm bracing myself to answer all the controversial questions when the film releases,' he added.
While Ruslaan is the son of yesteryear character actress Anjana Mumtaz, Sheena is Sadhana Singh's daughter.

Satish Kaushik packs safe sex lesson in his film Tere Sang
India packs safe sex lesson in a new Bollywood film.
MUMBA - After handling mature themes like marital blues and surrogate motherhood, Bollywood is making a film on teenage pregnancy, a sign that more serious scripts are becoming popular with viewers.
"Tere Sang" (With You), to be directed by Satish Kaushik, aims to inform viewers about unsafe sex and raise the issue of providing sex education, especially to Indian youth.
Sex education in largely conservative India is a moral flashpoint, with educators saying such knowledge will reduce HIV rates and critics fearing it will corrupt young minds.
"It tells the viewers how a romance between a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl takes a dramatic turn when the girl accidentally becomes pregnant," said Kaushik. "Many teenagers today are into unprotected sex and I wanted to reach out to them and tell them how and why they should be careful with their lives."

Sadhana Singh's daughter set for debut in Tere Sang
Mumbai, Remember Sadhana Singh who created a storm in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh as the leading lady in Rajshri Production's 'Nadiya Ke Paar'? Her daughter Sheena is now set to make her debut with 'Tere Sang'. Sheena stepped into the film after director Satish Kaushik's original choice Yamini Sharma had to be dropped. The film is a joint production by Anupam Kher and Kaushik. 'If you remember, I had selected Yamini in Chandigarh after seeing her at a protest on television. But she turned out to be wrong for the role. My film 'Tere Sang' required two very innocent people. That's when Sheena came into the picture,' Satish told IANS. She is going to be paired with newcomer Ruslaan, son of yesteryears TV star Anjana Mumtaz. Ruslaan made his debut in the recently released 'Mera Pehla Pehla Pyaar' (MP3). 'Both the youngsters have it in their genes. Though Ruslaan already has one release, he and Sheena will never look like a tried pair.' By Subhash K. Jha Jun 17, 2007
